Instructions and Help about Parental/Guardian Approval for Minor to Travel

Hi my name is Veronica young and I'm an associate with the Feldstein Family Law Group in this video blog I'll be discussing travel consent letters what they are and why you as a parent may need them is your child under 18 years of age will you be traveling with them outside of Canada will they be traveling outside of Canada will they be traveling with all of the custodial parents or custodial Guardians if the answer to all the above were yes then your child needs a travel consent letter from each custodial parent who is not traveling with them even if you have sole custody of your child a Travel consent letter from the other parent the access parent is still necessary Canadian border agents and for governments have no idea about your custody arrangements they're not psychic they have no way of knowing whether a child's parents have consented to a trip or whether that child is being abducted by one parent or some stranger the border agents can refuse to allow you to enter or leave their country with the child if there's any concern that you are doing so without the full consent from both parents and or custodial Guardians essentially these travel consent letters are a form of protection for the child against international child abduction these letters are documentary evidence that a child's custodial parents or custodial Guardians have consented and given permission for the child to go on this trip it assures the Canadian and foreign governments that the child's parents know where that child is going and have consented for the trial to travel with the persons named in the letter so what's in a travel consent letter usually well really there's no standard legal format for travel consent letters and what they need to contain the only basic requirements for a valid travel consent letter are first off a statement by the parent who is not traveling with the child that they are consenting to this trip that parent signature and the date of the signature however most family law lawyers recommend for travel consent letters to clearly and concisely set out specific details regarding the trip including departure times and locations locations to and from where the child will be traveling where the child will be staying contact information for hotel the parents and the child during trip and what the basic return plans are it is also recommended that the parent consenting to travel gets that travel consent letter notarized some governments or jurisdictions may not accept a non notarized letter as sufficient evidence of parental consent the above information and notarization on a travel consent can help minimize complications when crossing borders or in the unfortunate circumstance of an emergency abroad while with your child parents should seek the assistance of a family law lawyer when drafting a travel consent letter or preparing to sign one if a letter is drafted too broadly or unclearly.

Is it California law for a minor to be accompanied by a parent/guardian in a vehicle? I thought it was anyone 18+, not necessarily a parent/guardian?
If it were true there would be no school buses and no field trips. Your parents could not take you and your friend to the mall, the school, or the movies. However, as Andrew Gutsch mentioned, your parent/guardian may need to sign a release from Liability form (see an example: http://www.ehow.com/how_7807012_...)

Wing recently became the 1st drone delivery service to get FAA approval. Did Alphabet (parent company) have to just fill out a form or was the process difficult?
Wing recently became the 1st drone delivery service to get FAA approval. Did Alphabet (parent company) have to just fill out a form or was the process difficult? The basic requirements for certification is described in Wing’s blog post:Wing becomes first certified Air Carrier for drones in the USMost importantly, FAA certification required us to submit evidence that our operations are safe. These submissions included data showing that a delivery by Wing carries a lower risk to pedestrians than the same trip made by car. Our drones have flown over 70,000 test flights, and more than 3,000 deliveries to doorsteps, driveways and backyards of our customers in Australia.
Do I need to take my parents with me for obtaining a learner’s licence if my age is above 18 and do I have to fill out the form for minors?
Not at all. You're an adult now, go by yourself, get it done. There is no minors' form available in the first place because driver's license (learners or otherwise) must be issued to a person above 18 years of age.Source(s): I got my driver's license after turning 18 without my parents accompanying me anywhere.
Should there be a federal law allowing minors to request vaccination given that Oregon, South Carolina and Pennsylvania allow minors to ask for vaccinations without parental approval?
In Canada, health care falls under provincial government authority, so there is no federal law, but minors universally can ask for vaccinations without their parent’s consent. Most provinces have laws such as the B.C. Infants Act, which says:“children may consent to a medical treatment on their own as long as the health care provider is sure that the treatment is in the child’s best interest, and that the child understands the details of the treatment, including risks and benefits. It is up to the health care provider to assess and ensure the child’s understanding of the treatment.”What is “mature minor consent”?A child under the age of 19 is called a “minor”. "Mature minor consent" is the consent a child gives to receive health care after the child has been assessed by a health care provider as having the necessary understanding to give the consent. A child who is assessed by a health care provider as being capable to give consent is called a "mature minor".That’s typical. However, wherever the province does not have such a law, the “Mature Minor” consideration of Common Law applies, and the child can ask for health care on their own if their doctor deems it appropriate. Doctors do not have to inform the parents about it, either. See: Article 12 of the Convention on the Rights of the Child and Children’s Participatory Rights in CanadaIn Canada, parents do not have the right to neglect their child or deny him/her medical treatment that authorities deem advisable. They can deny treatment for their child if medical authorities agree it is inadvisable. In the US, on the other hand, parents are often allowed to make really stupid decisions about their children on the grounds that they in some way “own” them. Children have a lot more rights in Canada.
Is it possible for minors to travel with student single parent to Germany?
It should be possible but you must put them in the original visa application if you must apply in advance or better if you have a “visa on arrival” passport. Once you arrive in Germany you would need to prdocumentation to prove sufficient funds and adequate living space for your child and you. It's a very long and tedious process but it is feasible. It took me ahout 12 months total for my visa and my family's.
Is it possible for a foreign adult to become a legal guardian of a foreign minor in the US (with the consent of the parents and legal visas)?
Legally, parents are free to give up their children to the custody of any person they see fit. But if the child or the guardian is not in the US, there will be complication for visas. Especially if the guardian adult is not in the US, the child in custody will prno visa benefit for the guardian. If it is other way around, for the child to come to the US, the guardian will need to legally adopt the child and petition for his/her visa.
